Camila Cardoza Herrera is currently a canvasser reaching out to Latinx voters in North Carolina. In 2016 Trump won the state by less than the same number of Latinxs that are eligible to vote but are not registered. One of Mijente’s goals in the state is to increase the number of Latinxs voting against President Trump, starting with making sure all people are registered.
Hola! Mi nombre es Camila Cardoza Herrera. My pronouns are she/her. I am from Raleigh, North Carolina. I am a canvasser for Mijente. Mijente is an organization that is pro-Black, pro-queer, pro-indigena, pro-lesbian, and pro-migrant.
During my sophomore year of high school I started getting involved in my community. Before then, I never knew how much my people needed my support. I decided to get involved with helping and educating my community. I think it's important for Latinx in North Carolina to build a community where we can all join and feel comfortable with each other.
There are 200,000 Latinxs in North Carolina eligible to vote but are not registered. This is more than the number of people that could have beat Trump in the last election. As a Latina I do not agree with what Trump is doing, which is slandering our community and limiting opportunities for us. Let's not make the same mistake again.
